Roadway is a shared vehicle platform that puts everything you need for shared vehicle use into one app. With personal linked products like “OV-chipcard” or your driving license you can easily get access to a variety of shared vehicles from different companies.
New in Roadway are the “Smartway” and “Networks” functions. These functions can make Roadway a more personal experience. You can read more about these options below.

Roadway has multiple functions for making traveling more convenient. More common functions, as well as brand new functions, such as Smartway and Networks, are all available within this platform, designed to make the journey fitting to your needs.
Networks
Share your personal vehicle with Networks. With Networks, you can share owned vehicles with others you add to your network. The people you want to add to your network is up to you. This way travelling becomes even more convenient for everyone in your Network. Networks make sharing your vehicle with the people you trust much easier than before.
Smartway
Set your destination with Smartway, the new trustworthy navigation tool of Roadway. Smartway is capable of navigating you to different vehicles and basically all destinations. This will make your travels much easier and this will make the usage of shared vehicles less complicated, as every step is thought out for you.
The impact of Roadway on YOUR journey
Roadway is a tool that provides a better journey for you, as user of shared vehicles. Roadway creates a better experience for you on three different occasions, shown in the visual as the three exclamation marks. First of all, the app makes planning a route easier, as all different types of shared transport are displayed in the application. In the app, reservations can be made to make sure that the shared vehicles are available when you need them. Transferring between different shared vehicles is also made much more accessible, as there is no need to change to different apps before being able to continue your journey with a different vehicle. When arriving at the destination, the action is not much different than usual when leaving a shared vehicle. The difference in thoughts and feels here is explained by the amount of stress that has been eliminated during the travel. The travel with Roadway is smooth and predictable, while being flexible at the same time. This results in less stress during the journey, which means that you are less stressed when arriving at the destination.
Your journey with Roadway does not only impact yourself. As it such an easy tool to use, we would like to assist the government in increasing the numbers of public transport- and shared vehicles users. Furthermore, we would like to collaborate with our partners by sharing data, resulting a greater network for our partners.

With doing interviews and observations, we recognised that users of shared vehicles would benefit tremendously from using a service such as Roadway. Based on observations, we could determine what potential users of Roadway could be and what their characteristics could be. If you recognise yourself in these characteristics, we would say that trying Roadway would bring benefit during your journey.
With the interviews, we were able to determine two key personas who would benefit most from using Roadway, so if you recognise yourself in these personas, you defenitely should try Roadway.

Application Programming Interface
This technology allows different software applications to communicate with one another, making it easier and more efficient for new applications to integrate with existing software. (Reddy, 2011) As a result, development times are faster and the software ecosystem becomes more interconnected and robust. Roadway uses this technology to communicate with all the different partners

This technology refers to the network of physical devices, vehicles, appliances, and other objects that have embedded sensors, software, and connectivity to allow for data exchange with other devices and systems over the internet. (Bourgeois, 2021) However, IoT devices can raise concerns around security, privacy, and data ownership, more information on how Roadway handles can be found here. Within roadway, this technology is used to interfere with vehicles.

Online Card Holder System
This technology is a digital platform that allows users to store their cards online. This is needed to check-in on different platforms with Roadway.

Identity and Access Management
Identity and Access Management is a technology to manage and secure digital identities and access to computer systems, applications, and data. IAM involves a range of activities, including user provisioning and deprovisioning, authentication and authorisation, password management, and access control. Roadway makes use of this technology, in order to make an account on multiple digital platforms, and getting access to these.

Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer-based tool for mapping and analysing geographic data. By using this system, we can discover how locations relate with each other. (Edelson, 2014) At Roadway, this system is used to find all the different routes and to located vehicles and boarding places.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) focus on creating machines that can perform tasks requiring human-like intelligence. AI systems use algorithms and statistical models to analyse large amounts of data and recognize patterns, enabling them to improve their performance over time. (Frankenfield, 2022) AI is used within Roadway to find available vehicles and different roads.

With Smart Infrastructure, buildings, transportation networks, and utilities are integrated through advanced technologies, sensors, and communication systems.
